You may have heard that The Daily Wire's Megan Basham is out with a new book, called "Shepherds for Sale: How Evangelical Leaders Traded the Truth for a Leftist Agenda."
I wonder how many people Megan has blocked on X. I got blocked a year or so ago because I pushed back on something she said. And bear in mind I have like 200 followers 😂 I’m convinced that Megan has just made herself so isolated she doesn’t know how much of a bubble she is in but I guess she wants to be the queen of echo chamber fundamentalism/ political conservatism.
So all these leftist, godless, anti-Christ organizations donating funds to “Christian” organizations and that doesn’t raise an eyebrow? Attack the author? I see now, just like the secular world you respond in like fashion …..
She didn’t say it didn’t concern her. Her point is that journalists must ensure accurate reporting. No matter how noble the cause, inaccurate reporting is not justified — especially when those data points are publicly accessible. As a matter of fact, inaccurate reporting can do much to harm the cause we’re advocating for.
Thank you for this. As a member of a church whose pastor she goes after as “woke,” it’s frustrating to see her dishonesty lauded as journalism and supported/celebrated/promoted by several prominent conservative Christian figures.
The blind eye (so far) that some have turned to this reminds me of the blanket acceptance of Voddie Baucham’s Fault Lines or of basically anything written by David Barton. If it supports a favored position, the facts don’t seem to matter.
Even if the few concerns you cite represented the only errors in Basham's book, they would remain sufficient for one like me who's not read the book to raise suspicions about every single footnote. This, while I was planning to read it, I think I'll pass.
Thank you for your integrity and high journalistic standards. Conservatives do not require skewed judgement and fudged facts to "own the Left" so to speak. The truth is perfectly capable all by itself.
